Exactly What is a MISBO Anyway?
MISBO is a professional association for independent schools in the Southeast U.S., (Mid-South Independent Schools Business Officers) supporting business officers and operations with around 400 member schools in 25 states. Its mission is to strengthen business roles and enhance operational support through a purchasing consortium, professional development, and networking opportunities.
Because the name doesn’t speak to their real purpose or value proposition, we developed a video to answer the question: “What Does MISBO Really Stand For?” Through creative branding, we came up with the idea to redefine the M-I-S-B-O acronym with purposeful and meaningful statements that provide real upshot to independent schools and their stakeholders’ outcomes. Along with the slogan “We power independent schools”, we solidified the Association’s position.
MISBO’s rebranding initiative established a new identity and helped expand its market presence coinciding with its 40th Anniversary. The Association’s goals included boosting member engagement, increasing vendor usage, recruiting new schools, and enhancing visibility through various conferences.
